Questions about CBD

What is CBD (Cannabidiol)?

Cannabidiol is the focus of many current medical studies. It is commonly abbreviated as CBD, and is one of the many active compounds present in industrial hemp. These active compounds are known as cannabinoids. CBD is the most dominant cannabinoid in hemp, constituting up to 40% hemp extract. Unlike THC, it is not psychoactive.

Is the CBD legal?

Yes. You may have heard that the only way to use these products is by living in a state that legalized medical marijuana, but this is simply not true! The CBD is extracted from federally legal hemp plants. If any state legislation changes this situation, we will do our best to provide immediate updates.

Is the CBD going to drug me?

DO NOT! CBD is an active cannabinoid derived from hemp, but it is not psychoactive, which means that it will not inhibit it in any way, or form.

Will CBD make me fail a drug test?

The federally legal hemp extract has eliminated the THC. Although we make no claim about the accuracy of drug test results, it is very unlikely that CBD will fail traditional drug tests that only seek THC.

What is CBD used for?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not allow us to make medical claims about the benefits of our products beyond recommending them for general well-being. If you have a disease or think you have an illness, it is best to consult your health care provider.

What is the difference between hemp seed oil and CBD extract?

Good question! Less reliable companies sell hemp seed oil claiming it is CBD oil, so it's important to know the difference. Hemp seed oil is made by pressing raw hemp seeds and collecting the liquid oil that is expelled. It is a good complement and additive for cooking. It does not have concentrated cannabinoids or terpenes. The CBD extract is produced by supercritical extraction of carbon dioxide from the hemp plant. This concentrates the active cannabinoids and terpenes at very high percentages, which results in the CBD oil that we add to our products.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

When people think of marijuana, they think of the classic Cannabis Sativa plant. What many do not know is that marijuana can also be of the indica and ruderalis varieties. Comparatively, hemp is only the cannabis sativa plant. Although they are the same plant, there are different genetic differences between the two. Marijuana plants generally reproduce to have very high amounts of THC at the expense of other cannabinoids, including CBD. Hemp is the inverse, which contains large amounts of CBD and little or no THC. This means that hemp is an ideal plant for those seeking cannabis benefits without psychoactive experience. Marijuana plants are usually slender and bushy with large amounts of flowers, while hemp plants are taller and thinner, with stems pronounced and little or no flower. Industrial hemp has innumerable uses, including the components of clothing, paper, rope, plastics, oils and food. Legally, the two plants are defined separately by the Agricultural Assignations Act of 2014, which establishes "industrial hemp" as a Cannabis sativa plant with a THC concentration below 0.3 percent by weight.

How much CBD should I take?

Everyone responds differently to the CBD, so the best approach is to test it and adjust it to discover what works best for you as an individual. Our recommended serving size is 10 mg. Several people have found amounts as small as 5 mg and as high as 40 mg to be ideal. As always, consult your healthcare provider for medical advice.
